Terms of Use

Last updated: 13 September 2026

TL;DR

  • MF Gyan is a free, open-source (MIT licensed) research tool.
  • It is not investment advice, a recommendation, or an offer to buy or sell any fund.
  • We are not registered with SEBI as an Investment Adviser, Research Analyst, Distributor, or in any other capacity.
  • Data is best-effort. Historical NAV comes from AMFI via mfapi.in and may have errors, delays, or gaps.
  • You use MF Gyan at your own risk. We disclaim all warranties to the extent allowed by law.
  • Please consult a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser before making any investment decision.

Open-source software

The source code of MF Gyan is available under the MIT License. You are free to inspect, fork, modify, and self-host the tool. The MIT licence disclaims warranties and liability for the code itself.

Not investment advice

MF Gyan shows historical price data and computed statistics about Indian mutual fund schemes. Everything on the site is descriptive analytics: what a fund has done historically, what a portfolio looks like today, how metrics are computed.

Nothing on this site tells you what to buy, sell, hold, allocate, or switch. Nothing here is tailored to your personal financial situation, goals, or risk profile. If you want that, please engage a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser.

Past performance is not indicative of future returns. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Please read all scheme-related documents carefully.

Data sources and accuracy

Scheme metadata and Net Asset Value (NAV) history are sourced from mfapi.in, which in turn sources from AMFI. We refresh data periodically (typically once every 24 hours). Numbers may be stale, missing, or contain errors. We do not warrant accuracy or completeness.

Metrics like CAGR, volatility, max drawdown, and Sharpe ratio are computed from the stored NAV series using standard formulas. The risk-free rate assumed for the Sharpe ratio is 6%. These are our computations — they may differ from figures published by fund houses or third-party rating agencies.

AI chat

The chat feature uses a third-party language model to generate replies. Language models can be confidently wrong ("hallucinate"). Do not rely on chat output as fact — always verify important numbers on the fund detail page or from official sources.

The chat is instructed to refuse investment-recommendation questions and redirect you to a SEBI-registered adviser. It may occasionally slip. If it ever gives you fund-specific buy/sell language, please report it via the grievance channel on the privacy page.

Third-party trademarks

Fund house names (e.g. HDFC Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, Parag Parikh Financial Advisory Services), scheme names, and all related marks are the trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. Their appearance on this site is for identification purposes only. No affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship is implied.

Your responsibilities

  • Use the site for lawful purposes only.
  • Do not attempt to overwhelm the service, scrape at unreasonable rates, or bypass access controls.
  • Do not upload files you do not have the right to upload.
  • Any decision you make with information from this site is your own.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the MF Gyan maintainers are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on any information here, including but not limited to investment losses.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
